Review: Real Food Daily
Last week I was so excited to finally get the chance to try out RFD after many encouraging recommendations. Once I finally stopped by their Santa Monica location and felt a little stumped on what to order. Everyone had raved about the spot, but they had failed to mention WHAT to order. I decided to go with the Veggie Wrap and substitute the tofu for portobello mushrooms. My typical go to order at Veggie Grill. After eating the wrap, I was a little disappointed. Onions? In a wrap? No thank you. And the mushrooms and seasonal veggies? Completely soggy and chewy.
But fear not! I gave them a second chance. This weekend I decided to stop by the little cafe to order a club wrap (I cant deny my love of sandwiches and wraps!) out of my coworkers recommendation. And I'm glad I did. It. Was. Amazing. A delicious combination of tempeh, seitan, lettuce, tomato and avocado. An aspiring vegans dream!
Moral of the story? Next time someone gives you a restaurant recommendation, ask them WHAT you should order!

Real House[sisters] of Beverly Hills Day!
The ThirdCultureFoodie and I decided to enjoy our extra day off Beverly Hills style. A day filled with The Today Show, Power Yoga, Lululemon, Juice Bars, The Beverly Hills Hotel, Rodeo Dr, Manicures, Pedicures, Running on the Beach, and Happy Hour. Best part? It wasn't too expensive! Seriously, no wonder there are so many unemployed housewives running around this city, there is SO much to do.

The Lenten Season is upon us!
'Tis the Season of Lent! A Time to Self Deny, (Meat) Fast, & Pray. Call me crazy, but every year I look forward to the Season of Lent. YES, partly because lent typically signals that March 31 is vastly approaching, but also because I love the self reflection and clarity that this season tends to bring. Simplicity is Happiness, Happiness is Simple. This year I am enjoying 40 days, stripped of unnecessary purchases, unnecessary thoughts, and unnecessary actions. I plan on filling my time with unmaterialistic people doing unmaterialistic activities. OH, and it helps that I will be RUNNING approx 89.99% of my time away in the next 4 weeks!

Marathon?!?!?!!?!
"I think I'm training for a marathon... no, yes I am...actually, I'm not sure..."
Volunteering your body to go through the most pain it has ever experienced is a hard decision. I know, shocking revelation. So, why am I even considering running a marathon then? Yes, like many others, I want to test myself and break personal boundaries but in all honestly, I'm considering running a marathon because I'd be running the Los Angeles Marathon. I have no intention of ever running a zillion marathons, or even two! But there is something about running the LA Marathon that seems necessary, its the the first city I chose to live in post-college, the first city I truly fell in love with, the first city that opened its doors to me. This past year and a half I've been in some sort of crazy love affair with LA. I've been enjoying her beach, her weather, her SUN, her mountains, her restaurants, her rooftop bars, the list continues... And I think its about time I enjoy her at her most brutal state.
Alright, so I know that sounds completely corny, but if I am going to die trying, there is no other city I'd rather die trying than in Los Angeles. So we'll see, on March 17th, will I love LA more or less?
